Location Devices by Phoebe Porter

Jewellery can define our identity in a fragmented world, it can anchor us with reassuring traditions. In a time of ‘inbuilt obsolescence’ jewellery is one of the few things regarded as something to be cherished and passed on. A new body of work by Melbourne-based jeweller, Phoebe Porter, takes a fresh look at the personal significance and relevance of jewellery.
Fascinated by the invisible lines of networks between people, paths travelled routinely and ideas of connection, Porter’s new work is simple, linear jewellery referring to a schematic map of her own personal route through life. The invisible lines become visible pieces to be worn.

Location Devices will be showing at e.g.etal from July 15 – August 9 as part of the Melbourne International Design Festival.
